- literacy is necessary for full community participation and quality of life
- all of its learners have the potential to gain literacy skills
- adults learn best when they have a say in what, how and when they learn
- that respect for each individual is vital to our organization
- in encouraging, supporting and acknowledging learner and volunteer participation in the organization
- that its volunteers and its learners must share accountability in order to achieve success

Objectives
